"Thad, I think we're gonna' get along just fine," Kaplan said when he saw that Thad was serious.

(Brb, I need to pick up my brother from the movies.)

"Haha, wow, okay," Kaplan said, shaking his head in amusement. "Yeah, there'll probably be food involved at some point."

Kaplan couldn't help it, Thad's answer had been so serious, he had to laugh.

"Food?" He repeated. "That's all you're asking about? Not where we're going or what we'll do?"

Kaplan thought about lying, but then relized that would be pointless with Thad. He'd be able to tell it wasn't the truth.

"Around," Kaplan admitted with a sly grin. "Why? You interested in coming along?"

"Wow, don't I feel priviledged," Kaplan smirked. "So, where are you headed?"

"Thad huh? So, is it safe to assume I'm a-" Kaplan made little airquotes. "Buddy?"

"Yeah, yeah," Kaplan shrugged. He bent over and helped the candor boy retrieve the last of his things. "I'm Kaplan by the way."

"Maybe I am eager," Kaplan grinned back. "You never know, maybe I like studying and getting an edumacation."

"Fire?" Kaplan repeated, pausing mid-step. He'd been about to leave without directing a word at the candor boy, but the odd phrase had caught him off gaurd. The boy didn't seem angry, merely tired.

Kaplan had been running along with a pack of his dauntless friends when, after turning a sharp corner, he accidentally stumbled into a candor boy.
