Thad was following behind Kaplan when he noticed a familiar figure across the hallway.

"Cade?" Thad called out.

Cade paused upon hearing his name, then turned and spotted Thad. Behind him, there was an unknown dauntless boy, and Cade couldn't help but furrow his brow. Rather than answer, he merely jerked his head and stood still.

"I'll be back," Thad said to Kaplan when he noticed that Cade had that familiar suspicious look about him.

Jogging over to Cade, Thad lightly thumped him on the arm and grinned. "Cade, guess what?"

"What?" Cade asked, glancing over Thad's shoulder to inspect the dauntless boy. "Who's that?"

"That's Kaplan," Thad answered. "We're gonna ditch school and explore, wanna come?"

"Kaplan?" Cade repeated seriously. "I think I've heard of him. Gets into a lot of fights from what I've heard."

"Aw, come on Cade!" Thad insisted. "You're acting like a stiff. Have some fun once in a while."

Cade sighed, but as he looked from Thad's eager face and then back to the other boy -Kaplan- he slowly nodded. 
"Fine," he said. "But I just want you to know, I'm only going to keep and eye on you."

"I'm not a child," Thad complained. Then, after realizing how that sounded, he chuckled and shrugged. "Whatever though, as long as you let loose a little."
